The New Forest

After the possible Marsh Warbler in Gosport was reported as a Reed Warbler I, Chris and Paul had no where to go. So our chose was the new forest seeing as we were already heading in that direction. We arrived around 16:30 at the New Forest and after a small snack we headed straight off. After walking about 200yds we heard our first good bird and soon we had a lovely FIRECREST showing very well and singing to its hearts delight. We then heard a Wood Warbler calling in the near vicinity. I walked on hoping for it to show itself and soon we were watching a nice WOOD WARBLER but it was slightly elusive and it took a bit of looking. We then moved on and also saw a spectacular male COMMON REDSTART which perched up for us and we had some great views. We also saw a Grey Wagtail and a Marsh Tit. On the way back we saw another two + Firecrests and a female Common Redstart.
