Vicarage Lane

Today I came home and saw a note on the floor it said "Ephraim there are Waxwing down Vicarage Lane 1am down there you will see me if you come." I rushed down to see and they had just left but i did stay and they came back. They kept on going and coming back they were very close and I managed to get some good close ups. Here is some footage I managed to get.
Here is one of the few Waxwing I saw in a berry bush.
It seems to be enjoying the berries.
This is the first I have seen them this year i saw them last year but not this year. Hopefully I get at least one more look at them because they absolutely wonderful birds.

Garden frogs

A few days ago I tried to post up a post but the video did not work so I have tried again.
My mum saw a frog a few days ago and brought me out side to see it. after some research on the computer I found out that it was a Common Frog (Rana temporaria).

As you can see it allowed me to get some pretty close ups. I have no idea about frog identification. But as i said before I looked it up and bingo.

Garden Birds

I have been at home ill for two days today was the second day. I was looking out the window and I thought i could do some bird watching and filming. In the garden I saw:
  • 2 Robins
  • 2 Dunnoks
  • 2 Chaffinches
  • 2 Woodpigeons
  • 3 Blue Tits
  • Great Tit
  • Blackbird
  • a unknown bird thought to be a warbler.

This is what I think may be a mating dance like with Great-Crested Grebes just not completely imitating the other mates dance.

A Robin one of the few birds i have seen on my bird table.

A Blue Tit hoping around in a tree to the right of my garden.

Brent Reservoir

Yesterday i went to Brent reservoir. I was expecting not to see much but it turned out I saw two ticks. One was a Reed Bunting  and the other was a Ruddy Duck. While me and my brother were walking along the reservoir we met two people who told us there was a hide, but you needed a key to get in. We went with them and stayed in the hide for a while. The two men told us that there was a Cetti's Warbler I was looking out for this and i saw something jumping in the bushes I told my brother and he also spotted it by this time there were also two other birders who we showed the bird to too. they spotted it with there scopes and identified them as Reed Buntings. Later a Ruddy Duck was seen and i looked for it but never saw it. We left the hide and I was annoyed that I had not seen the Ruddy Duck. We went onto another reservoir were Samuel spotted another Ruddy Duck this time i spotted it by myself and ticked it off.

A Ring-necked Parakeet eating buds in the tree.

Tring Reservoirs in videos

Here is some footage of two Great Crested Grebes doing there mating dance. If you see the whole dance it is absolutely spectacular. I think that Tring could be the best place to watch it.

I also saw some Grey-lag Geese. They had a wonderful plumage and  were very nice to film. These two seem to just be drifting along next to the side of the path.

This is a Chiffchaff surprisingly it is a tick for me. In this footage you can see it is a bit black and white although you can see a few colours.
